Direct messages, and nicknames that don’t collide
Encrypted direct messages, friend requests that work across every server you’re on, and per-server nicknames that no longer clash when two people show up with the same name.

GeeChat is a chat client for communities that run their own server and intend to keep it that way. No canonical instance, no account database we hold onto — just your server, and the people you invite to it.
Why GeeChat
Every community runs its own instance. There's no default deployment, no company in the middle, and nothing to migrate away from if you decide to leave.
A keypair generated on your own device is who you are. No password, no email, no account database sitting on a server you don’t control.
Text channels, voice channels with noise suppression, mentionable roles, reactions, and everything else you’d expect from a modern chat client.
Windows, and Android, kept in sync. Updates ship automatically once you’re set up — no app store required.
